The VORCORE experiment will allow to study the stratospheric Antarctic polar vortex core at the end of winter, when it is well isolated, up to its final breakdown.
During September and October 2005, 25 superpressure balloons will be launched by CNES and LMD from McMurdo (166.37E, 77.51S). Balloons will fly during months at two different constant density levels (about 50 and 70 hPa).
