The
campaign will begin in January 2007. The balloons will be launch from
an
area of the Mahé airport.
The decision to launch one or more pressurized balloons and Aeroclippers will be taken using predictions of the balloons trajectories computed using ECMWF “Ensemble Prediction System” (EPS). These trajectoty predictions are available online.
This prediction system was tested during the pre-campaigns of February 2005 and January 2006 and gave satisfactory results. The launch of one ore more balloons will depends on the actual and predicted large-scale conditions in order to optimize the distribution of the measurements and to perform measurements close to the Cirene area.
