The Vasco-Cirene field experiment focuses on the role of air-sea interactions in the trigering and the evolution of intraseasonal perturbations of the deep convection related to Madden-Julian Oscillations. The experiment will be performed over the Indian Ocean in January and February 2007.

The VASCO component (PI: J.P. Duvel) is an observing campaign using pressurized and aeroclipper balloons deployed from the Seychelles.

The CIRENE component (PI: J. Vialard) is based on an oceanographic campaign synchronised with VASCO, and will collect ocean, atmosphere and surface fluxes measurements.
